14 arrested in extortion case

Shillong: As many as 14 persons were arrested for extorting money from tourist taxi drivers in parts of Shillong on Monday.

Diganta Nath, general secretary, Meghalaya Tourist Transport Association lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that Kishan Tamang (22), Sameer Chettri (23), Dapborlang Pde @ Bor (35) Amit Kumar Sarki @ Dergaon (19), Alan Lyngdoh (19), Ban Marbaniang @ Bevan, Authority Sohtun @ Thor (34), Nidhu Pal (43),R. Sing Lyngkhoi @ Bahduh (43),Bhanu Das (32) Moina Das (42) yrs), Rajen Chettri (26), Babu Chettri (29) and Sam Gurung (39) were extorting money from tourist taxi drivers at Police Bazar and other areas of Shillong City. On July 22 morning, Police arrested all the accused.
