NGT ban violators held

NONGSTOIN: In an effort to tackle the continued violations against the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the District Magistrate, West Khasi Hills imposed ban on rat hole mining and the transportation of coal across the state of Meghalaya, the West Khasi Hills police have apprehended ten illegal coal laden trucks and a case has been registered against the perpetrators.

The police informed that following the District Magistrate’s , (WKH) declaration of Section 144 CrPC, a few months back, ten cases of illicit trading has been registered against trucks which violated the order.

A Police official also said that further random inspections would be carried out to see the enforcement of the section 144 CrPC.
