SHILLONG: The delay on the part of the State Government to provide official camps for the ANVC-B cadres has resulted in the present situation, wherein, 24 cadres of the outfit were arrested from the make shift camp in Tura. Stating this in a release issued on Monday, the ANVC(B) leadership said it smelt conspiracy behind the arrest of its cadres who were detained for their alleged involvement in the killing of migrant workers in West Garo Hills.
Concerned over the matter, the ANVC (B) chairman, Rimpu Marak said on Monday that they are helpless and grieved over not getting the support of the Government in providing official camps.
“Our cadres are behind bars on suspicion of murder. If the Government wants to push away youths who are trying to come back to the main stream, the future of these youths will be bleak,” Marak said.
According to Marak, Garo Hills is already disoriented due to the law and order problems and driving away the youths who are willing to come forward, will aggravate the situation.
“If the State Government does not complete the process of allotting official camps and other procedures, we will be apprehensive of bringing more of our cadres to the mainstream,” the ANVC(B) leader asserted.
Marak has also sought the intervention of the civil society members to address their various concerns.
