‘West Garo Hills SP corrupt’

SHILLONG: The ANVC-B has rubbished allegations that the outfit’s cadres were involved in the murder of migrant labourers.

In a statement issued here on Friday, ANVC-B leader Doang Shira said that the outfit’s cadres did not commit the heinous crimes and truth shall prevail in the court.

Stating that all the allegations are part of a “big” conspiracy to find faults with and frustrate the ANVC-B cadres with the sole motive to stray them away from the final settlement, he said that attempts were made earlier to turn the ANVC-B leaders violent so that State Government gets enough opportunity to implicate them.

“State Government never wanted us to sign the peace pact that is why they did not sign the official Suspension of Operation despite several appeals made by us and the Centre directing the State Government on the matter. They neither provided us a camp nor rehabilitated our cadres. So who is at fault? State Government is responsible for the present imbroglio as it is an outcome of their ill intended policies,” the ANVC-B leader said.

He said that the crippling of United Peace Movement (UPM), the arrests of core members of AMA, Human Rights, CSWO and now the ANVC-B cadres are all part of the big conspiracy.

“All these groups are working to restore peace and bring back the misguided youths to the mainstream but the State Government does not seem to be very happy with such initiatives,” the ANVC-B leader said.

Stating that West Garo Hills SP Mukesh Kumar Singh is a corrupt officer who would do anything for his gain, he said that Mukesh made friends with their leader when he was posted in South Garo Hills with the sole intention of collecting money from coal laden trucks in NH-62.

“The money was deposited in one SBI account and a counter foil with our leader’s signature would suffice this claim,” the statement said.
