SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has finalized the names of VIPs who would take the salute on Independence Day.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Cabinet Minister HDR Lyngdoh said that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will take the salute in Shillong while Power Minister Clement Marak will do the same in Nongstoin.
Former Chief Minister DD Lapang will take the salute in Nongpoh while Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek will take the salute in Jowai.
Assembly Speaker AT Mondal will take the salute in Tura while Home Minister Roshan Warjri will be present in Williamnagar.
PWD minister S Dhar will take the salute in Baghmara while Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will do the same in Mawkyrwat.
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith Sangma will take the salute in Mairang while Transport Minister HDR Lyngdoh will do the same in Khliehriat.
Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo will take the salute in Resubelpara and Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak will be part of the celebrations in Ampati.
