NONGSTOIN: The Federation of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) Rambrai Circle led by its president Wadbor Nongphud and general secretary Dekian lyngdoh inspected the saw mills, dairy and bakery at Rambrai on Wednesday and detected six migrant workers without valid papers.

The six illegal migrants were asked to leave the place the same day.

The FKJGP also issued a stern warning to the owners of various businesses to refrain from employing people who did not possess valid papers.

“If anyone is found providing shelter to migrant workers without proper papers, we would take stringent action against them,” the FKJGP said.

“The Government has implemented laws for issuing work permits and it is mandatory for all migrant workers to obtain them,” the FKJGP said.
