Citizens’ forum set up in North Garo Hills

SHILLONG: In the wake of spurt in killings, kidnappings and other law and order problems in Garo Hills region, the citizens and various pressure groups have formed the Citizens’ Forum for Peace, North Garo Hills, with its head office at Mendipathar.

The officer bearers include Dolly K Sangma as president, Edward D. Shira as vice president, Wilness R Marak as secretary and Tarsus Sangma as joint secretary.

The committee held a meeting and decided to try to find out constructive ways and means to ensure peace among all sections of people. A public peace rally will be held on August 19 and 20 in the district headquarter after which memoranda would be submitted to the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister.
