London: England on Sunday named an unchanged squad for the fifth and final Test against India starting at The Oval here on Friday, with pacer Stuart Broad being included despite suffering a fractured nose.

Broad was struck by a Varun Aaron bouncer that squeezed between the grille and peak of his helmet while batting during England first innings on the third day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford yesterday.

A bloodied Broad retired hurt and did not bowl during India’s second innings as the tourists were dismissed in 43 overs to give England an innings victory and a 2-1 lead in the series.

“Following England’s victory over India by an innings and 54 runs in the 4th Investec Test, England selectors today announced an unchanged 13-man squad for the 5th Test commencing Friday 15 August at the Kia Oval,” England and Wales Cricket said in a brief statement.

England squad: Alastair Cook (Captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Steven Finn, Chris Jordan, Sam Robson, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes. PTI

Broad posted a picture of his injury, which required stitches and a trip to hospital this morning, on his twitter page and suggested he may still play by wearing a protective mask.

“Little bit sore this morning but not too bad! Doc did a great job. On to The Oval! (With a mask),” he tweeted. (PTI)
