Meet on Khasi states

SHILLONG: The Federation of Khasi States has urged all the chiefs, clan chiefs, village chiefs, elders, NGO leaders and general people to attend a meeting at iing Club, Pyndenumiong, Mairang, Hima Nongkhlaw Syiemship, on August 19 for a deliberation on “the important national commitments made 66 years ago to the 25 Khasi states.”
In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, spokesperson of Khasi States, John Kharshiing said that the meeting was called to  remind and recall the 66 years (17 Aug 1948 – 17 August 2014) of the solemn national commitment made by the treaties– Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement of 17 Aug 1948– entered into between the 25 Hima Khasi states and  C Rajagopalachari, Governor General of India on August 17, 1948.
