Workshop on use of medicinal plants held

NONGSTOIN: The District Basin Development Unit, West Khasi Hills District organised a one-day workshop on Promotion, Conservation, Cultivation and Use of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP) at TRYSEM Hall here on Tuesday. The workshop was a platform aimed at generating knowledge to take forward conservation, cultivation and use of medicinal and aromatic plants within the framework of sustainable development.

The workshop was chaired by Nodal Officer (IBDLIP) S.Warjri in the presence of West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, JP Lakiang.

Scientists, doctors, research scholars from NEHU, local health practitioners, besides others, were also present on the occasion.

The workshop, a first of its kind in the district, provided the participants an opportunity to interact with scientists, scholars, researchers, professionals and specialists and gather appropriate knowledge and information on different aspects of conservation, cultivation and value chain links of various economically important medicinal and aromatic plant species available in the State.
