Construction of new Assembly
SHILLONG: With the finalisation of site for the construction of the new Assembly building at New Shillong Township at Mawdiangdiang near NEIGRIHMS, the Assembly Secretariat is now waiting for the handover of land by Urban Affairs department.
Informing this here on Saturday, an official of the Assembly Secretariat said that the handing over of land would take place shortly.
The Assembly Secretariat has already intimated to the Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong that the land at Mawdiangdiang has already been identified by the High Power Committee.
Taraghar: Governor recently declared Taraghar Bungalow as a State Guest House for accommodating and hosting the state guests visiting Meghalaya.
The site at Taraghar Bungalow was earlier proposed for the construction of new Assembly building, but the Government had to shelve the plan following protest from several quarters.
