SHILLONG: Many security staffs working for the Ranger Security Organization (RSO) managed by Teibor Pathaw have not received their salaries since the month of May and some have also been asked to vacate their houses for not being able to pay rent to the house owners.

Sources said that such is the plight of the workers that even the grocery stores are now refusing to cater to them.

Concerned over the matter, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing has asked the security agency to clear the pending salaries.

“The delay in payment of salary is extreme injustice by the security agency, especially when most of these minimum wage earners are living below the poverty line,” the CSWO observed.

The CSWO demanded that the pending salaries be disbursed immediately with interest for the months withheld, as many of the security staffs have taken private loans on high monthly interests to take care of their daily needs.

“It was found that many of them are afraid to complain as they might lose their job.”

“The Government institutions hiring these agencies should check that the security agencies do not withhold the salary of the poor staff, and the CSWO will not tolerate such acts of exploitation by agents signing MOU’s with the Government,” Kharshiing added.
