SHILLONG: Giving a breather to KHADC CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, UDP has decided to keep on hold its demand for the change of leadership of the ruling coalition -All Regional Parties Coalition (ARPA) for time being.

The party, however, has made it clear the matter will be discussed at the level of the central leadership of the three regional parties (HSPDP, UDP and KHNAM).

“We have decided to remain with ARPA till it completes its full term,” UDP president Donkupar Roy told newsmen after the meeting of the party leaders and the MDCs here on Monday.

The UDP president said that the issue of change of leadership in the Council will be raised at the meeting of the senior leaders of the three regional parties.

“The meeting of the senior leaders of the three parties will soon be convened to discuss the matter,” Roy said.

Meanwhile, party sources revealed that the issue of the change leadership is unlikely to be discussed in the crucial meeting of ARPA to be held on Tuesday.

“The party MDCs will raise the issues pertaining to the CEM’s dictatorial behaviour in the meeting,” party sources added.

Earlier, UDP had announced it would ask HSPDP, which is heading the council, to elect a new leader in place of Basaiawmoit.
