SHILLONG: UDP president Donkupar Roy has said that his party still wants that a new leader should be elected in the KHADC.
“We will like to continue with ARPA. But the leadership should be changed,” Roy told newsmen here on Wednesday.
He said that majority of the MDCs were of the opinion that “they cannot work under the present CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.”
“ARPA has no dearth of leaders for the post of CEM,” the UDP president said adding that the party MDCs had complained that the CEM sidelined them while taking some major decisions.
“He (Basaiawmoit) took majority of the decisions on his own without bothering to consult the other members of the Executive Committee,” he said.Roy also asserted a person who is acceptable to all the coalition partners should be elected as the new leader.
AGP team meets Donkupar: Meanwhile, an AGP delegation led by Atul Bora met the UDP president Donkupar Roy on Wednesday and discussed the common issues plaguing the region.
The issues discussed include border problem between Assam and Meghalaya.
They have also decided to have a meeting of all the regional parties shortly either in Shillong or in Guwahati
