Miners’ meet

In the wake of the NGT order issued on August 1, the West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has convened a meeting of coal owners, traders, Hima Nongstoin Land Owners’, Coal Traders’ & Producers’ Association and the inspection, verification team from the district on September 9 at TRYSEM Hall, DC’s Office, Nongstoin at 11 am.

Seminar

A national seminar on Ecology and progress in North East India: Anxiety, hope and belonging in the literacy consciousness will be held on September 9 at 12 noon at the old Guest House, NEHU.

Literacy Day

The State Project office, SEMAM (SSA) will observe World Literacy Day on September 8 at St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Marbisu. Education Minister R.C. Laloo will be the chief guest.

Liquor seizure

The Excise staff of East Khasi Hills, in their continued drive against illicit liquor, seized 944.50 litres of liquor and 422.230 litres of IMFL in July. The staff detected 79 cases and arrested 75 persons.

Anniversary

Shillong Assamese Ladies Association Welfare Club will observe the birth anniversary of Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on September 8 at 5:30 pm at Assam Club, Laban. The programme will be organised as Bhupen Hazarika Geetor Godhuli.
