JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has directed coal dealers of the district to pay royalty on the declared/assessed coal for 14 working days starting from September 15.
In a statement issued here, the DC informed that trucks violating the 9 MT permissible load limit while transporting the coal, will be penalized under the relevant section of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Joint verification of the loaded quantity will be conducted at Garampani and Dawki check gate/points by the DMR and taxation staff.
“Each permit will have three copies of challan – one to be kept at the issue of DMR, one to be retained at the exit point/gate and a copy will be handed over to the transporter/buyer by the owner,” the statement added.
The trucks would also need to fix a permanent fluorescent line, the statement said, adding that only transporters and trucks intending to carry NGT coal should report at 7th Mile Weight Bridge for the permanent fluorescent line before the transportation takes place.
