JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Movement Central Body (JSM-CB) has opposed the move of the Education department to set up a residential school at Byndihati village in East Jaintia Hills District.
According to JSM general secretary, Lening Rymbai, Bynihati village, which is merely a couple of kilometers from the National Highway 44, is not the ideal location for setting up of the residential school for it would not be able to serve the rural populace.
While lauding the Deputy Chief Minister, Prof RC Laloo who is also the minister in charge of the Education Department for taking the initiative of bettering the educational system in rural areas, the JSM suggested that the location of the school should cover the villages of Mukhaialong, Pynthorsale, Cham Cham, Lumshyrmit, Mutong, Iongkalooh Moolamanoh, Moolang etc.
“We don’t want a residential school be set up in any village situated on the National Highway,” the JSM said.
