NEIGRIHMS organises workshop on telemedicine

SHILLONG: North-East Regional workshop on Development of Awareness and Sensitization on National Medical College Network was held at NEIGRIHMS recently.

The workshop was inaugurated by NEIGRIHMS Director, Prof. A.G. Ahangar, in the presence of Dr. N.K. Dhamija, Deputy Commissioner, Telemedicine, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Prof. S.K. Mishra, Nodal Officer, NRC, SGPGI, Lucknow.

Prof. Ahangar while speaking on the occasion informed that NEIGRIHMS has been designated as the Regional Resource Centre, NMCN Project for the North-East.

During the workshop, the resource speakers, who came from all over India, deliberated on various aspects of NMCN Project and on the usefulness of Telemedicine in advancing medical education and development of healthcare delivery system in rural areas of the north-east region.

The resource persons included Dr. N.K. Dhamija, Ministry of health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Prof. S.K. Mishra, Prof. Nirmal Gupta and Dr. R.S.K. Marak from SGPGI, Lucknow, Dr. Biman Saikia, PGIMER, Chandigarh, B.S. Bedi, C-DAC, S. Sudhakar, Director, NE-SAC.

Some resource speakers including Dr. Ravi Chittoria, JIPMER, Puducherry, Prof. U.C. Ghoshal, SGPGI, Lucknow, and Prof. B.N. Mohanty, S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack, delivered their presentation through Video Conference.
