SHILLONG: The State Government will work out a date for the surrender of arms and ammunition by both the factions of ANVC and ANVC-B.

It was on September 24 that the ANVC entered into the final peace pact with both Centre and the State government.

One of the conditions stipulated in the peace pact is that the organization would be disbanded within three months from the date of signing of the peace pact.

Prior to this, there will be a ceremony for the surrender of arms by the militant groups, a Government official said on Thursday.

Due to the flood situation in Garo Hills, the Government could not decide on the date for the surrender of arms, the official added.

While ANVC had submitted some arms to the police when the tripartite ceasefire agreement was signed on July 23, 2004, the ANVC-B is yet to hand over arms and ammunition to the police.
