Kohima:Nagaland on Monday launched Vigilance Awareness Week with government officials in the state pledging to continuously strive in bringing integrity and transparency in all spheres of their activities.
State Principal Secretary and Home Commissioner Pankaj Kumar administered the pledge to the officials. The government officials also pledged to remain vigilant and work towards the growth and reputation of their organisation through collective efforts.
“We shall do our duty conscientiously and act without fear or favour,” they pledged. Nagaland Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister T R Zeliang have urged the citizens to make use of modern technology to combat corruption in all spheres of life. In a message on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week, Acharya said there was a need to remain alert on the growth in cyber crime even as technology could be an effective tool in promoting transparency.
“Technology can give real meaning to transparency and accountability, can help bring sunshine to the darkness. But, technology is also made and driven by humans. Technology can help, integrity will always count,” Acharya said.
The task of fixing solution should not be left to the vigilance commission alone and it was the responsibility of all citizens to participate in the fight against corruption, Zeliang added. (PTI)
