2 Sahanur accomplices held

Guwahati: Intensive search launched by the police and security forces to nab jihadi Sahanur Alom, wanted by the NIA in connection with October 2 Burdwan blasts case, resulted in arrest of two more accomplices of the fugitive during a raid at a house where he was hiding in Hatsingimari area of western Assam’s Dhubri district in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Sahanur, however, mana-ged to escape just before the security personnel raided the shelter.

The Two arrested persons, believed to be accomplices of Sahanur, were identified as Abdur Nur and Sahanur Ali.

They are suspected to have links with jihadi network. The security forces, based on specific information about presence of Sahanur Alom , swooped down in the house of a local teacher, who is a distant relative of Sahanur who is believed to be on the look out to find an escape route to Bangladesh through the international border with Bangladesh in Dhubri sector in Assam.

Police and security forces have intensified operations to nab him. The Border Security Force (BSF) guarding the India- Bangla-desh border has been alert-ed to prevent Sahanur from escaping to Bangladesh.

Sahanur’s brother, wife Suzena and father-in-law have already been arrested for their links with the jehadis, Police claim that Sahanur and his wife, Suzena, had received jehadi training, along with others from Assam, at madrassas in West Bengal.

On November 14, NIA arrested Sahanur Alam’s close relative Suburuddin Ali from Nalbari district in connection with the blast and jihadi activities case.

Sahanur is among the most wanted accused named by the NIA in connection with the October 2 Burdwan blasts. He was suspected to be taking shelter in Fakiraganj area in Dhubri district bordering Bangladesh and West Bengal by changing his look, police claimed.
