RTI awareness prog held

RESUBELPARA: An awareness programme on RTI Act 2005 was held at Mendipathar, organized by MATI in collaboration with the North Garo Hills District Administration on November 21.

D.D. Sangma, Deputy Commissioner in charge of North Garo Hills, who was the chief guest on the occasion, urged every citizen of the district to be aware of the real meaning of the RTI Act. “Being citizens of a democratic state like India, every citizen is a stakeholder in the development of the country. There should not be any misuse of democratic values by any citizen or the Government officers,” he said.

The resource person Teng’srang M. Sangma, Principal in charge, Tura Law College, chaired the workshop sessions on the subject “RTI and obligation of public authorities (who can seek information, RTI application, fees, reasons for denial of information, etc). The session was followed by an interactive session.
