A source in the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarter here informed that the unclaimed bag suspected to be containing bag bomb was noticed by passengers near the door-way to the coach number three of the train and alerted the security personnel aboard.
The 12-coach train laden with passengers was then detained at Kendukona Railway station in Kamrup from 10-55 A.M. to 12-13 P.M while all the passengers were asked to get down from the train for thorough checking .
A joint team of Govern-ment Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to Kendukona from Rangiya junction and removed the bomb from the train. It was later defused by explosives experts from the Army.
Security in all important railway installations inclu-ding the busy Guwahati Railway station has been
beefed up following recovery of the bomb from the train.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday claimed that anti-talks faction of the ULFA (Independent) was behind the blast.
