SHILLONG: The Meghalaya International Exporters’ Chamber of Commerce based in Dawki will file a petition in the Principal Bench of the National Green Tribunal in New Delhi on Tuesday to allow export of coal from Dawki Land Customs Station.
Secretary of Meghalaya International Exporters’ Chamber of Commerce, Dolly Khonglah, said on Monday that the international commitment to supply coal will be breached due to the stalemate over the export of coal following the ban on coal mining by NGT.
“We have our international commitment and we cannot resort to breach of contract as pending letters of credit were already paid by our buyers, and we may face trouble if our buyers approach the international court,” Khonglah said.
According to Khonglah, the delay in the export of coal from Dawki will result in loss of revenue and foreign exchange.
“We are ready to obey the orders of NGT. But our prayer before NGT is to allow export of coal through Dawki Land Customs Station,” Khonglah added.
