KHADC CEM releases books

SHILLONG: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Adelbert Nongrum on Monday released two books U Rev JJM Nichols Roy Bad Ka Sixth Schedule Vol-6 and Nangno U Khasi U Wan? authored by Rev. Dr. O.L. Snaitang at a special function held at the KHADC Hall here.

U Rev JJM Nichols Roy Bad Ka Sixth Schedule Vol-6 highlights the contribution of Rev. J.J.M. Nichols Roy and the political events in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills from 1936 to 1959, the Standstill Agreement and the Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement.

Nangno U Khasi U Wan? deals with Khasi political and religious philosophy, cultural system, governance, role of the Church and the emergence of the Sixth Schedule.

Both books have been published by Ri Khasi Book Agency, Mawkhar.

Nongrum lauded the huge contribution of Rev. (Dr.) O.L. Snaitang to Khasi literature through his pen.

He also said that the books would help enlighten the people of the State about the history and the political and social developments that shaped the Khasi-Jaintia community including the role of Rev. Nichols Roy as the father of the Sixth Schedule.

KHADC Deputy CEM Teinwell Dkhar and MDC Morning Star Sumer also spoke on the occasion.

Rev. Omega Langstieh of the Church of God offered the benediction.
