shillong: The Inter District U-16 category Cricket Tournament organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association began on Thursday with a brief inaugural function attended by MCA President Conrad Sangma in presence of Naba Bhattacharjee Hony Secy, Andrew Warjri Jt. Secy and other officials.
In the opening match of the tournament between Shillong Cricket Association and Ri Bhoi, the latter winning the toss and opting to bat first was all out for 107 runs in 23.3 overs. Kumar Pradhan scored 31 runs(40 balls) and Wicky Chetri 17 runs(34 balls) for Ri-Bhoi while Ranjan Yadav and Kiran Biswa claimed 3 wickets each for SCA. In reply SCA innings too faltered throughout and in the end just about scraped through scoring 108 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30.5 overs, thanks to contribution of most players, among them the successful bowlers Ranjan Yadav notching 16 runs(46 balls) and Kiran Biswa 11 runs(19 balls). Dev Thapa claimed 3 wickets and Sadashiv Prasad 2 wickets for Ri Bhoi. SCA won by 2 wickets.Next match East Khasi Hills will face against East Jaintia Hills on Friday.
