Girl raped on birthday, 2 held

New Delhi: An 18-year-old girl, hailing from West Bengal, was allegedly gangraped by two of her friends, one of whom is a juvenile, on Friday night after they had taken her to their house on the pretext of celebrating her birthday.

The accused, identified as Rahul (20) and a 17-year-old boy were apprehended by the police here this morning after a case of gangrape and intimidation was registered against them at R K Puram Police by the victim.

“It was her 18th birthday yesterday and the duo took her to their room with them on the pretext of celebrating it and gangraped her. They then also threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the incident to anybody,” said a police official quoting the victim’s complaint. The victim and the two accused hail from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and knew each other for the past one year.

The girl works with a placement agency where both the accused also work as a cleaning staff. The two youth had come to Delhi for job and were staying at a rented accommodation at south Delhi’s Mohhammadpur area while the girl lived with her relatives.

The girl was sent for medical examination which confirmed sexual assault. We have nabbed the two accused and further investigations are on, the official added. (PTI)
