Jamshedpur: In a consolation victory, Royal Wahingdoh FC registered a 4-2 win over Vasco SC in the last match of the qualifying round of the 34th Federation Cup football tournament here on Sunday.

The Northeast outfit surged to a 3-0 lead at halftime after T Lalnunpuia put the team ahead in the 18th minute.

Forward Lalnunpuia scored again two minutes later, while Jackichand Singh netted in the 29th.

After play resumed in the second half, Vasco got their act together and scored off Jose Colaco in the 57th minute.

Wahingdoh’s players regrouped and attacked the rival citadel as Ennio D’silva converted a crosspiece on the 60th minute.

Vasco’s M Mascarenhes reduced the margin in the 87th minute. The second half of the match was played amid a heavy downpour.

Despite the positive performance from the Shillong team, this match was a dead rubber as Kalighat Milan Sangha and Mohammedan SC had already qualified for the main tournament, which starts here on September 19. (PTI)
