SHILLONG: A dominating Shillong United mauled Umphrup 13-0 in Friday’s First Division match at the JN Sports Complex here. While as many as eight Shillong United players found the nets, Umphrup failed to capitalize on a penalty which came as their only chance to make it to the score sheet. For Shillong United, Pynshai Warjri and forward Eijingmut Lyngdoh scored hat tricks. However, despite the victory, United’s chances of making it to next season’s Shillong Premiere League still looks grim. The remaining matches between Imson and Boys’ Sports will decide Shillong United’s fate. Earlier, Shillong United got off to a solid start with Henry Kharwan firing a shot into the nets in the 4th minute. Pynshai Warjri’s scored in the 17th, 47th and 48th minutes to complete his hat trick, while Eijingmut found the nets in the 21st, 41st, and 89th minutes. It was an all-out assault by the United players who looked unstoppable against a fairly mediocre Umphrup defense. The other goal scorers for Shillong United were defender Firstwinshine Hashah (35″), Pynskhem Garod (74″), Wansan Wahlang (77″) and Sokini Suchiang who scored seconds after Wansan’s goal in the 77th minute. Meanwhile, Laitumkhrah’s Christian Aguiu ripped through Mawpat’s defence to see his side through with a comprehensive 5-0 win. Aguiu’s goals came in the 15th, 29th, 34th, and 57th minutes while Rungzing Muinao added one in the 78th minute.
