Violent incidents pre-planned, says Kharkrang

SHILLONG:  The violent incidents perpetrated by a section of the crowd during the rally sponsored by the headmen on Thursday was “pre-planned and pre-mediated” and not by the spur of the moment.

According to Kharkrang, the police are on the job to identify the perpetrators of violence.
Earlier on Thursday, the IGP (Law and Order)  GHP Raju had said that as per the inputs of intelligence agencies, there were around  20 HYC volunteers behind  the violence. However, Kharkrang said that investigation was on to indentify the persons involved in the crime.
The SP said that besides stones, bottles were also thrown at the police personnel on duty  resulting  in injury to as many as 10 personnel including women.  Moreover, the protestors also destroyed the barricades put up by the police.
“We are yet to arrest anybody. We are in the process of identifying the persons. We will take legal action as per the law of the land”, the SP said.
