JOWAI/NONGSTOIN: Re-poll in one polling station in Jaintia Hills and two villages in West Khasi Hills will be held on Wednesday.

The West Jaintia Hills administration has beefed up security arrangement at Umladang polling station where the re-poll will be held.

The re-poll was ordered after a group of NCP supporters destroyed an EVM after barging into the Umladang polling station under the 3-Nartiang constituency.

On the other hand, election in the two villages (Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkhwang) under Pariong-Mawthadraishan District Council constituency was deferred to Wednesday after it was detected that names of two villages (Phyllut and Mawkhan Wahkhwang) were missing from electoral roll.

The decision to defer the polling was taken to enable the eligible voters from the two missing villages to exercise their democratic and constitutional right of franchise along with their counterparts in the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Districts.
