SHILLONG: The meeting of the Congress women workers held at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday stressed on the need to work together for the future victory of the party despite the poor performance of Congress in the Lok Sabha polls.

The meeting was chaired by Shahnaz Haque, secretary All India Mahila Congress in charge Meghalaya.

The meeting highlighted the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha polls and asked the Congress women not to be disheartened as ups and downs are the order of the day.

While the Congress bagged the Shillong seat with the win of Vincent Pala, the party could not secure Tura seat in Lok Sabha polls.

MPCC President DD Lapang who was present on the occasion said that MPCC was ready to render any help to the Mahila Congress members to work with unity and purpose.

Lapang said that there was a need to encourage the women party workers to have full faith in the party leadership despite the ups and downs especially in the context of party’s dismal performance in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.

Assuring full support of MPCC, Lapang asked the women members of the party to face the challenges and move forward.

Home Minister Roshan Warjri was also present on the occasion and the Mahila Congress workers from Khasi Hills and Garo Hills attended the meeting.
