TURA: Yet another fake encounter allegation came to the fore after the police and the army claimed that two AMEF were killed by them during an encounter in North Garo Hills.
The Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) has through a communiqué denied the claim made by the police that two of their cadres were killed in an encounter at Karkutta in North Garo Hills on March 17.
Accusing the police of misleading the people, AMEF Vice Chairman Kadongchak Matgrik stated that the persons killed in the alleged encounter by police and army personnel from the Dogra regiment were innocent daily wage earners. “Chike Sangma and Salba Sangma who were mercilessly killed during an alleged operation by police and army personnel were innocent farmers who made a living by earning daily wages” stated the communiqué sent by the self styled Vice Chairman. Blaming the Chief Minister and Home Minister for the series of alleged fake encounters by the police in Garo Hills the AMEF have warned that the outfit would punish the perpetrators. They have also sought immediate compensation to the families of the victims within five days failing which the outfit would call for a series of bandhs.
Earlier on March 4, Sengbath Marak, the son of Nokma of Oragitok, under Rongram block, of West Garo Hills was killed in an alleged fake encounter by the police sparking GNLA to call a bandh in Garo Hills .
