SHILLONG: Come January 21, celebrities like John Abraham, Milind Soman and Lisa Hayden shall descend on Shillong to take part in the “Run for North East” which will be organised as a prelude to the 12th South Asian Games to be co-hosted by the city from February 6-16.
The 5 km mini marathon, which will coincide with Statehood Day, will be flagged off by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma from Fire Brigade ground at 8 AM.
Those taking part in the mini marathon can compete in four categories—men, women, armed forces and students—all above 16 years of age. A 100 metres competition will also be organised for people with disabilities.
A function will be held at Polo on the same day to celebrate the occasion. The event aims at generating awareness and support for the upcoming South Asian Games in the city.
