KHADC CEM flayed over Syiem’s removal

SHILLONG:  A delegation under the banner of the Synjuk ki Riew Rangbah representing the people falling under the Hima of Malai-Sohmat Syiemship has strongly condemned KHADC CEM PN Syiem for removing Paialast Iawrod as the Syiem of Hima Malai-Sohmat and appointing Francis Sohmat as the acting Syiem  even as they tore the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Myntri, Basan and Rangbah Shnong of Malai-Sohmat Syiemship) Bill, 2016 on Wednesday.
Demanding the KHADC to reinstate Paialast Iawrod as the Syiem of the Hima of Malai Sohmat, they also asked the District Council Affairs department to return back the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Myntri, Basan and Rangbah Shnong of Malai-Sohmat Syiemship) Bill, 2016.” Wanniang, a public meeting held in January burnt the effigy of CEM OF KHADC, PN Syiem for issuing the order.
Meanwhile, they also said that the passage of Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Myntri, Basan and Rangbah Shnong of Malai-Sohmat Syiemship) Bill, 2016 in the recent budget session of the KHADC is an act of domination and against the will of the people.
