West Garo Hills police felicitate Prosonto Basumatary before Budapest meet

TURA: The rank and file of West Garo Hills police have given a warm send off to their   colleague who has been selected to represent India at the international stage of body building for the title of Mr Universe that is taking place in the European city of Budapest, capital of Hungary, from 18 to 20th of November.

West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Dr MGR Kumar, led the officers and men of his force in felicitating body building champion Prosonto Basumatary, constable of 1st MLP battalion, at the conference hall of Tura SP office on Monday evening.

Presenting a memento and letter of appreciation to Prosonto Basumatary, the Tura SP said that Basumatary’s hard work and dedication is a true example others should emulate. He said that with hard work comes success.

Meghalaya police have been achieving success in the field of body building for the last few years.

In Tura, the first bodybuilding gym was established at the police reserve barracks in 2002 by then SP Surinder Singh Yadav, IPS, with a former Mr Meghalaya bodybuilding champion and policeman as the head coach.
