TURA: Residents of Rangsel Village in North Garo Hills about five kms from district headquarters Resubelpara are unhappy that a mobile tower is yet to be erected in the area although a promise for the same was made by Tura MP, Conrad Sangma in December last year.
According to the villagers they had met Sangma at his residence in Tura on December 25 last year with a request to look into the erection of a Jio Tower for the area. Sangma is said to have then informed them that 200 Jio Towers are being erected all over Garo Hills and their area would also be provided with one.
“The promise made during our meeting has not materialized. Rangsel is only five kilometers away from district headquarters Resubelpara. But the absence of mobile network has made the lives of people miserable which is a shame to the public representatives,” they said.
Another promise made by the Tura MP during the meeting according to the villagers is the repair of the road from PWD main road to Raja Apal weekly market via Rangsel village under the PMGSY Scheme, which has also failed to take off.
The villagers claim that earlier on several occasions, appeals were made and memorandums served to the deputy commissioner, local MLA and MDC including Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma to look into their demands. But sadly, the villagers claim no initiative has been taken till date with regard to their demand.
