GUWAHATI: The European Union is providing technical assistance to the solar park at Amguri in Upper Assam.

The 70MW solar park is the first-ever facility in the Northeast. The project was tendered recently.

“Under the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership, the EU has provided technical assistance to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in preparing the detailed project report for the solar park in Assam,” Ambassador of European Union to India, Tomasz Kozlowski told reporters here on Wednesday.

Under the partnership, a EU-funded technical project is supporting the development and grid integration of solar parks in India, based on EU best practices modified for local conditions as a part of the Green Energy Corridor II project.

“We are glad that we could support the first-ever solar park in Assam,” Kozowski said.

The EU Ambassador said this was the only project in the Northeast that the European Union was engaged under the clean energy and climate partnership.
