SHILLONG: The combined annual training cum inter-group competitions camp being organised by NCC Group HQ Shillong, where over 500 cadets took part, concluded at Umroi Cantonment on Sunday.
The camp was organised under the aegis of NCC Directorate North Eastern Region (NER) with the primary aim of selection of North Eastern Region NCC contingent for the Republic Day Camp (RDC) to be held in New Delhi in January 2020.
Over 500 cadets from all eight states of North East participated in a large number of competitions like drill, guard of honour, cultural and flag area during the 10-day camp for selection of team for RDC in New Delhi.
Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The Governor congratulated the cadets on successful completion of camp and remembered his days of 1962, when he himself was a NCC cadet. He also gave away the prizes to cadets for exemplary performance during various inter-group competitions. Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi, ADG NCC, along with Brig Rajeev Singh , Stn Cdr , Umroi Cantonment were also present at closing ceremony.
