SHILLONG: Match day five of the Meghalaya State League 2019 had some interesting results, with Druma Sandruma blasting 12 goals and nine-man Shillong Lajong held to a draw.
The Lajong juggernaut was halted by Lumniwar in a 0-0 result in Jowai. Group A toppers Lajong saw Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi shown a straight red card in the first half, while Naorem Mahesh Singh was sent off after a second booking in the second half, so were quite lucky to take a point from the contest.
The second game saw Lawbah take a 3-0 lead in the first half over Umkaber, with Roikhihbha Nongtdu providing a brace to take him to the top of the scoring charts with six goals so far. Umkaber fought back hard and bagged two goals, but the match ended 3-2 in Lawbah’s favour.
In Group B, Mynthong and Iatyllilang Lumsehkot were deadlocked until the 55th minute when the former’s Dieye Hamidou scored the first of his three goals.
Kyrkhudametre Ryngkhlem then scored late to give Mynthong a 4-0 win in Khliehriat.
In the second fixture a 69th minute Deligen Pdang goal gave Sutnga a 1-0 victory over Umladkhur.
In Mawkyrwat, the morning game of Group C saw Mawkohphet race to a 3-0 lead before Madan Bynther replied with two quick goals through Lambor Nongsiej and Shanbok Nongsiej to give them hope of earning a point, but Welbokstar Iawphniaw fired in one more goal for Mawkohphet in stoppage time for his hat-trick and a 4-2 win for his team.
Later, Rangdajied United kept up their winning ways with a 1-0 win over Khliehmawlieh Youth Club with the lone goal provided by Stephanson Pale.
Finally, in Group D, Druma Sandruma thrashed Salaram 12-1, with Sengsu Momin providing five of the goals for a sensational man-of-the-match performance.
