Adelbert to distribute essential items after curfew
SHILLONG: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum informed that owing to the strict curfew orders, he has to stop the contribution of essential commodities to the needy families. In a press statement here, he said that the families who have not received will soon get the essential commodities after the situation has calmed down. He also said that other than the essential items, he will ensure to provide masks as well.
Health workers asked to report harassment
Shillong: The Nazareth Hospital Worker’s Union in a press statement asked the health workers who are facing any difficulty in their place of residence to report any such incident. The statement added that if the landlord or any individual harass or creates difficulty to the workers, they should report it immediately so that the needful will be done by the concerned authorities as per the law. The union further stated that they are working for the health and safety of the state and the country and intend to fulfill their duties for the benefit of all.
Flu clinic set up in Tura
TURA: The West Garo Hills District Administration has set up a flu clinic at the Tura Civil Hospital for the purpose of sample collection, testing and for undergoing screening procedures as per the prescribed health and safety protocols, of persons who are showing symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, with or without travel history from within and outside the country. Informing this, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner said that individuals or patients carrying or showing the symptoms mentioned above should immediately contact the 24×7 helpline number- 7085496965 and requested citizens to follow the advisory in order to prevent the threat of transmission of COVID 19 epidemic in the region.
MGU conducts online classes
Shillong: With the Covid-19 pandemic which is wrecking havoc around the globe ceaselessly, the whole world has come to a standstill. Following the advice of University Grants Commission and MHRD,Govt. of India, the teachers are showing enthusiasm to provide education by taking help from top diverse e-learning online education websites which are popular in India. Moreover, regular online classes are conducted by the teachers with the help of different digital equipments.
Sanitisation drive by CRPF
Shillong: “C” coy of 48 Bn CRPF, presently deployed at Police Reserve, Shillong for assisting state administration in maintenance of law & order in the city, sanitised public places like Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Jail Road (Shillong) by spraying of disinfectant on Tuesday. The premises of Meghalaya Police Reserve was also sanitised. It was conducted by CRPF as part of Special Civic Action Programme in its fight against the virus. Insp. Kanta Prasad, Officer-in-Charge of C/48 & other ranks of the company participated in this drive under the supervision of Sunit Varshney, Commandant 67 Bn CRPF.
