Biri smuggler caught in EKH
S Khongsam, headman of Nongtyngur village (EKH) lodged a complaint that on July 17 around 3.30 pm, members of the village Dorbar caught red handed one Kmensing Khongjee while he was attempting to smuggle four baskets of Nasir Biri valued around Rs 84,000 to Bangladesh at Pongtung-Lyngkhat Road in Ri Kynti (EKH).
Trucker assaulted, looted
Ajit Kumar Das of Silchar (Assam), lodged a complaint that on July 17 around 4.30 am, while he was proceeding from Guwahati towards Mizoram in his truck (AS-01-CC-1500), five unidentified miscreants in a Maruti car (without registration number) waylaid his truck on NH-6 at Iongkaluh village (EJH), assaulted him and also looted Rs 15,000 and two mobile phones.
TS Beningkham Monsang lodged a complaint that on July 17, miscreants vandalised one ATM located at Mawlai Petrol Pump, Shillong.
Cattle smuggling
On July 16 around 7.30 am, police detected one truck (NL-02K-1904) at Lumshnong, NH-06 (EJH), which was transporting 22 head of cattle without any documents. However, the trucker managed to flee, leaving behind the vehicle.
SI SN Biswas, MCP Commander, Sonapur Bridge (EJH) lodged a complaint that on July 16 around 8.15 am, MCP party on duty detected one truck (AS-01EC-6007) with 15 head of cattle at Sonapur Bridge (EJH). However, the trucker fled leaving behind the truck. In both the cases, it is suspected that the cattle were meant to be smuggled out to Bangladesh through the international border.
Motorcycle thefts
Keyniah G Momin lodged a complaint that on July 16 night, miscreants stole his motorcycle (AS-26E-1884) from his residential compound at Oxford Hill, Laban, Shillong.
Menjing Sangma lodged a complaint that on July 13 around 9 pm, miscreants stole his motorcycle (ML-08G-2209) from Kasibil village (SWGH).
240 kg tea seized
On the night of July 15, police seized 6 bags of tea (40 kg each) which were abandoned in a betel nut plantation at Muktapur-Sankhat under Muktapur PP (WJH).
