Pro-ILP groups receive official note on criminal cases l Call off stir

SHILLONG: Arrested KSU chief Daniel Khyriem will apply for bail on Friday, even as the 13 pro-ILP pressure groups have decided not to hold any more agitation after receiving an official communiqué from the State Government regarding dropping of all pending cases against their leaders.
“We have decided not to hold any more agitations after the Government has positively responded to our demands,” FKJGP president Joe Marweiñ told newsmen after a meeting on Thursday.
“The KSU chief will seek bail tomorrow,” he said adding that they received an official communication from the Government informing about its decision to drop all the pending criminal cases on Wednesday night.
It may be mentioned here that the agitating pressure groups had earlier demanded unconditional release of Khyriem.
According to Marweiñ, the state Government has also informed that only three cases which are heinous in nature would not be dropped.
While welcoming the state government’s decision, the HNYF general secretary Sadon K Blah said that there should not be any problem in dropping the cases since it was a Cabinet decision.
Earlier in the day, the pressure group leaders had gone to meet the KSU president in jail here on Thursday afternoon.
