New Delhi: On the day Baba Ramdev said he would arm his supporters if there was a repeat of the police crackdown that sent him packing from Delhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said by saying this the yoga icon has shown his ‘true colours and intentions’ and warned him that in case he does, the law of the land would deal with him.

‘I have seen Baba Ramdev’s statement wherein he has talked about raising an armed cadre. This only shows his true colours and if ever he does that the law would firmly deal with him,’ Chidambaram told a news conference here.

Baba Ramdev, who is a cult figure for his mastery of yoga, on Wednesday said in Hardwar that ‘we will build an army of 11,000 men and women.’

Ramdev, whose fast entered a fifth day against corruption, stressed that while he does not favour an armed rebellion, he would not allow security forces to act like they did at Delhi’s Ramlila ground when they broke up a meeting attended by thousands of his supporters.

‘Dedicated young men and women will be imparted ‘sashtra (vedic education) and sastra (arms training),’ he said.

‘Twenty youths from each region (of the country) will come forward for the fight against corruption.’

‘These young people should be 35-40 years old. Not only men, young women must also join. They must be dedicated, ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. They will be given arms training,’ he said. (UNI)

Baba’s health deteriorating

HARIDWAR: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s health has started deteriorating as his fast for tougher anti-graft laws and bringing back black money from foreign nations, entered fifth day here on Wednesday.

Doctors attending to the yoga guru have advised liquid intake and requested him to end his fast soon.

“His health is going down. He has lost weight and is suffering from dehydration. He is not keeping well,” chief medical officer, Haridwar Dr Yogesh Sharma said briefing mediapersons about Ramdev’s regular check ups.

“My fast is on along with thousands of my followers in each and every part of this country.” he said.

He said, “I request children, old age people not to fast. Others should join this movement like many of their brethren.” (PTI)
