SHILLONG: A Class XI student of Army School Himesh Nath committed suicide in his house at Upper Mawprem on Thursday by hanging himself.
Himesh, who cleared Class X examination this year, was studying commerce stream.
“It came as a shock to us. He was quite fine, normal with his friends’ teachers and has actively participated in all the classroom activities on Wednesday,” said the principal of Army School.
The principal also said Himesh was an average student and his class X examination result was not bad.
A condolence meeting was held in the school on Thursday and Friday has been declared holiday as a mark of respect to the departed soul by the school authorities.
The student has left behind his only sister besides his parents.
