Jirang Dorbar opposes shifting of dispensary

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Old Jirang has opposed the decision of the Syiem of Hima Jirang to shift the state dispensary to New Jirang.

Disclosing this on Friday, executive member of Old Jirang Dorbar Shnong Khrawbor Wahlang told reporters that the Syiem of Hima Jirang went ahead with his decision despite opposition from the Dorbar. The Syiem of Hima Jirang wanted to shift existing state dispensary to New Jirang as the matter was already discussed with the officials of the Health department.

Recently, the Syiem of Hima Jirang had summoned a sub-durbar (mini meeting) and announced that the existing state dispensary from Old Jirang would be shifted to New Jirang.

“We don’t have any option but to oppose this move as it was against the interest of people of the village”, Wahlang said while questioning the wisdom of the state government to shift the dispensary.

He also informed that the Dorbar Shnong would move the Health Director to stop this move.
