PM to visit B’desh on September 6

NEW DELHI: Indo-Bangladesh relationship is likely see some improvements following Dr Manmohan Singh’s first ever-state visit to Bangladesh on September 6. UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi will also visit the country this month. The PM’s visit will be preceded by a visit of the External Affairs Minister, SM Krishna, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid.

“At the invitation of Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, would be paying an official visit to Bangladesh from 6th to 7th September, 2011,” an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday.

It is expected that decisions might be taken regarding some key bilateral issues like water sharing of Teesta river, transit, exchange of exclaves, demarcation of boundary, adversely possessed land, trade and power supply.
