GUWAHATI: Minister of State (Independent) for WPT&BC (Excluding BTAD areas) Rajib Lochan Peguon Wednesday stressed on imparting quality education to all scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students for overall development of the downtrodden section of the society.
Speaking at the ceremonial distribution of computer sets to the computer trained SC students under ‘Computer to SC trainees Scheme’ here, Mr Pegu said the Welfare of Plans Tribes and Backward Classes (WPT&BC) Department is taking all steps to find out new avenues for training of the SC students in various innovative streams to ensure their self employment.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Chandan Sarkar appealed to all the beneficiaries to utilize the benefits received from Government in full for their own development as well as for uplift of the society.
He also requested the WPT&BC Minister to take immediate steps to fill up the backlog posts in various departments.
Commissioner & Secretary of the WPT&BC L Phangcho in his speech stressed on the skill development for self employment while Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare Sadhana Hojai highlighted various schemes meant for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste students.The Directorate of Scheduled Caste Welfare have provided Computer training to altogether 800 SC students since 2006 and this year computer sets will be provided to 600 trainees out of the total 800.
