PJ Thomas moves court

NEW DELHI: Former Chief Vigilance Commissioner PJ Thomas, whose appointment to the post was declared illegal by the Supreme Court, on Wednesday filed a petition in the Delhi high court seeking directions to the government to not finalize the appointment of the new CVC till President Pratibha Patil decides his representation.

In a representation submitted to the President on March 16, Thomas had requested her to refer the decision of the Supreme Court annulling his appointment as CVC to a constitution bench of the Supreme Court.

He had also urged President Patil to grant him personal audience to explain his stance and also urged her to keep in abeyance the cancellation of his warrant of appointment.

The new CVC was to swear-in on Thursday. (PTI)
