SHILLONG: Power went off the three districts of Garo Hills and parts of West Khasi Hills on Thursday evening due to a snag in the 132 KV Mawlai-Nongstoin-Nongalbibra power line.
The power was disrupted around 7.30 pm in the region and was restored only at 11:45 pm on Thursday.
The fault line is 65 km away from Shillong en route to Nongstoin, sources said.
“MeECL workers have rushed to the area to rectify the error and efforts are on to restore the power supply at the earliest,” MeECL PRO EB Kharmujai said.
The three districts of Garo Hills faced prolonged power cuts for several times this year mostly due to technical fault in the Mawlai-Nongstoin-Nongalbibra power line.
